TriHards Save the World!

Or, we’d like to; at least a little bit of it. We’ve put together a crack international team for the Wild Endurance; a 100km trek through the Blue Mountains. That’s two days of running, walking and eventually shambling. This event will look at our limits, laugh in our face, and shove us past them; it’s going to be a tremendous challenge.

But it will all be worthwhile, for the aim of the event is to raise awareness, and funds, for the Wilderness Society. What’s that you say, "Ah, there it is, they want something!" Well, yes, we do. While this site has been wildly popular, we have not yet managed to garner the commercial sponsorship we had hoped for. Perhaps it’s because we don’t wear lycra. So now we have to call on our readers (all five of you!) to help us. A condition of entry in the Wild Endurance is that each team member must raise $400 for the Wilderness Society.

All of the money you donate goes to the Wilderness Society, a great (tax deductible) cause. Looking on the bright side, you can think of it as paying to put the TriHards in pain. Immense pain. And they’ve made it easy for you to donate too, though use of the Everyday Hero site (sure, sure, their site looks better than ours; but where are the wild tales of derring do that you can read in these pages?) Just select the team member you wish to sponsor: Doc Runaway, Mr GPS, The Kiwi or the Cyborg (preferably whoever is furthest from their $400 goal) and save a tree in their name.

Thank yous

The TriHards would like to thank all those people who have already contributed to this worthy cause (the wilderness, that is, not putting us in immense pain!)

Mr & Mrs Newcombe

In particular, we’d like to thank Mom & Dad Newcombe, who have been so very generous to the team! Not only have they provided us with their son to fill out our team, but they’ve put in money too! Your assistance is much appreciated!

Try Harder

You can try to disguise your true identity, Mr Mark, but your generosity gives you away! We’d like to thank you for raising us to the level of number one fundraiser over the Christmas period!

Blank

Our thanks to Mr Blank, who was overtaken by the spirit of Christmas to lift us even higher in the fundraising stakes!

Srinath

Thank you Mr Srinath, your donation is very welcome to the team! This will no doubt entitle you to many more goes on the lake in the Platypus!

Blank

Mr Munji, were you trying to hide your identity for fear that we would try to rope you into another race? Our thanks to you for supporting a very worthy cause!

The Trihardette

Wow, now that’s dedication for you! Not only is the Trihardette putting her body on the line, but her bank account as well! Thank you very much, Ms Trihardette, for your generosity of spirit towards the team (not to mention putting us into that elusive “mixed” category!)

The Blushing Bride

We'd like to thank Christina, the blushing bride, for taking time and money away from her imminent wedding (on the same day as the next AROC race!) and putting it towards the worthy wilderness cause.

Vlado

Much thanks go to Mr Vlado; we're not sure if he donated the money because he truly cares, or wanted to see his name up on the internet! Regardless of your reasons, Mr Vlado, we do appreciate your donation!

Mrs Bas

There are so many reasons to thank Mrs Bas, it’s hard to know where to start. Perhaps with her support and encouragement for Mr GPS, her ability to cope with a young family while he’s absent training or racing. Or her eagerness to support the team through a donation. Most of all, we should thank Mrs Bas for her vote of confidence in her partner’s ability to raise the required $400 himself by donating her funds to Doc Runaway.

Ulladulla Dive & Adventure

Woo hoo - we have corporate sponsorship! We’re a real team now! Many thanks to the team at Ulladulla Dive & Adventure Centre, who always seem to come through when the team needs a bit of sponsorship (they have previously sponsored us in such events - and worthwhile causes - as the Gong Ride and the Mother’s Day Classic). It is great that they’ve stepped up again to help in our fight for the wilderness (or to run through the wilderness!)

Mum

We’d like to thank all of the mothers of the TriHards team, who did such an excellent job raising their children and giving them such positive values which resulted in them all entering this race. But, on this occasion, we’d like to thank the TriHardette’s mother in particular for gneerously donating to the cause!

Mr Bas (Snr)

There is often biblical reference to the ultimate sacrifice a man could make - their first born son; and so we would like to thank Mr Bas (Snr), the man we affectionately call “The Father of (mr) GPS” for making an even greater sacrifice of not only donating his first-born (and only) son - who he had spent numerous years training in the lost arts of navigation and adventure racing - but also providing sponsorship to the team. In addition to making this tremendous sacrifice, but Mr Bas (Snr) has done so with his own subtle sense of humour, using the name of a well-known mountain biking brand as the sponsor - raising the hopes of the TriHards for sweet, sweet corporate sponsorship, and no doubt sending a shiver down the spine of other teams who may view the page and think the TriHards may have corporate sponsorship!

Mr Chris (aka Cyborg)

A big thankyou goes to you from the team, not only are you an extraordinary machine made for endurance you are generous of sprit as well, from your organisational skills at getting us to the line and placing you mechanically re-built hand deep into your bank account to ensure the team is moving towards it’s target. Many Thanks.

Mr & Mrs Grant

Many thanks to Mr Grant (one of the original TriHards) and the brand new Mrs Grant for breaking in their shiny new credit card marked with both their names for the TriHards (and much thanks for introducing the Cyborg to wearing skirts in public, though that may not be happening in this event!)

Ronald, Rebekah, Lan and Chrissy

Many thanks to the dedicated group of Doc Runaway’s friends for boosting the team’s fundraising efforts!

Maureen

Thank you Maureen, another very generous parent who not only provided an entrant for the race, but sponsored her as well!

Stringer

Thanks from the TriHards go out to the Vaucluse connection, who have generously donated to the cause, not only in their valuable money, but in time in coming up to the Blue Mountains to keep the Immoral Support Crew company (and supervise road building)!

Jack & Tigger

It looks like all that hard effort of throwing kongs and walking dogs has paid off, as they’ve come around to support the TriHards (though, we dread to think of where they got credit cards, and how their big paws managed to type the details into the web site!) It’s a shame they can’t join us!

Lee

And extra-tremendous thanks to the Immoral Support Crew, who is not only providing generously of her time in following the Trekking TriHards from checkpoint to checkpoint but also donated money to get the Cyborg over the line!

Eric, Jess, Jens, Emiliano

Thank you very much for helping Mr Martin get over the line!

Sy

Sy’s kitchen mate is most proud of Sy for sponsoring him and he loves him dearly!!!

The Capt’n

Many thanks go out to Captain Charles, who, upon hearing of the latest TriHard venture, and knowing the terrain to be covered, wisely declined the offer of joining the team. Perhaps we should have all paid heed!

Joe Joe Isaacs

Thank you very much, Joe Joe, for helping Doc Runaway over the line! No doubt you’ll hear all about the Wild Endurance adventure for years to come!

Charming Miss Chong

Thank you for your generous donation. We will certainly watch for Wombats while we’re out there!

nd

Many thanks to Mr Nigel for supporting the team! Hopefully we'll make it back in time to hear about your adventures on the Bay Ride!

Mary Kerby

Much appreciation for your support.

Eugen

Thanks Mr Eugen! Now get back to work!

Daewoo

Thanks for your support!

Ava

The TriHards dearly appreciate young Ava dipping into her university funds to support us in the Wild Endurance. She’s already scaled Pigeon House, and climbed Kosciuszko, hopefully next year Miss Ava will be up for the challenge of the Wild Endurance!
