Regular Activities

Being the dedicated team that we are, and following our goals of always trying to improve, we try to get out regularly for various training for adventure races (and just for fun). We try to do the following activities on a weekly basis; and anyone is welcome to join us (the more the merrier, it means we won’t pike out as often!) Don’t worry if you’re not experienced, we’re not particularly experienced either (or fit, for that matter!)

We generally send out an email to people who are interested in any of these activities a couple of days before we do them. If you’d like to join the mailing list for any of the activities, just email us at admin@trihards.net and we’ll add you to the list.

Disclaimer

Note that we do all these activities for fun, fitness and recreation. None of us is a professional coach of any form, and carries no insurance. If you choose to join us, it is at your own risk!

Indoor Climbing

We try to get to one of the indoor climbing centres in Canberra at least once a week, though in summer we tend to alternate that with kayaking. Indoor climbing is a lot of fun, and the centres will hire you all of the gear you need. (Check out our indoor climbing tips for some tips if you’d like). We normally climb for an hour or two (until our arms are too tired to carry us anymore!)

We generally send out an email a day or so before to test for interest, and so long as at least one person is going, a TriHard will turn up.

Running

Where would we be in adventure races and fun runs if we didn’t train? We go for at least a 5km run (okay, we very rarely do more than that!) at a very easy pace on a weekly basis. We’re not that fast, and very patient, so if you haven’t run before, or for a while, it’s no hassle, as you’d probably still outrun us.

Paddling

You can find us every second week over the summer months going for a paddle of an afternoon, normally in Lake Tuggeranong, but we can move to Burley Griffin on occasion. Now, it would help if you had your own kayak, as our red fleet is very limited!

Riding

We like to get out and hit some single track of a weekend if we’re all free. Normally we head up to Mt Majura, where some excellent single track can be found; there are some good technical tracks, and some good climbs and downhill runs. We’ll normally be out for a couple of hours on that one, but it’s great fun!
